Most people in Sydney will have moved at least once in their life, but not all for the same reasons. Some will move because they want to, and it could be an exciting experience that you look forward to, perhaps even enjoy. For others, moving is more of a necessity, especially in times like these where so many people have been affected by a reduction of earnings or perhaps a failed relationship, for those people it probably isn’t as ‘fun’. Regardless, there are formalities that need to be taken care of, emotions will be high, so, a checklist will probably come in handy;
Let’s not forget business owners either, many businesses have had to close or move either due to a need to cut costs or because of expansion, the great thing is that the same checklist can be used no matter your situation.
- Choose a furniture removal company
This one will take a little more thought, although, you do have a good selection of choices when it comes to Sydney furniture removals. What you will want to ensure is that the company you choose offers a service that will ensure that your goods are moved in the best possible way. For example, if you have expensive or delicate items that need special care and attention, your friend with a pick-up truck probably isn’t the answer.
- Get a plan of your new space
Whenever you are moving into a new property, it’s a good idea to get plans for the new space so that you can pre-organise where things will go. You should be able to get a floor plan from either the owner or agent that you are using to buy or rent the property from.
Once you have the plan you could draw the location of where you want your stuff to go, let’s face it, you might need to get rid of some of your furniture and or other belongings if they won’t fit, or you may want to buy new stuff if you are moving into a place with a bigger kitchen, for example.
- Preparation is key
As with most things that are hard work, it can be really easy to leave things until the last minute, but the trouble is, that usually means that things get forgotten or you add to the stress of what needs to be done.
Moving is, apparently, one of the most stressful things that a person can do so, make sure you plan and prepare well in advance, make all arrangements as soon as you can and make sure to have a back-up plan.
- Moving day essentials
When you start the moving process, you might start packing first, who knows, everyone does things slightly differently, however, be sure to leave a few things to one side. You will want clean clothes, toiletries, food and any other essentials in order to keep you going. The last thing you need is to empty boxes that you’ve already packed just to get a clean pair of socks.
Last but not least
You will also need to change your address and get your services transferred to the new address, a few phone calls should sort those out for you, don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it.
