How to set daily morning yoga routine

Try to think of that one time when you didn’t wake up hurriedly after snoozing your alarm for 2-3 times, or when you weren’t in a rush to get out of your home to reach your work. Our mornings are usually very rushed and we hardly start it the right way.

Yoga recommends starting your morning routine from your bed itself. The moment you wake up, stretch a little in the bed itself. It is very important to spend the first few minutes of the morning with yourself. Some of the reasons why you must incorporate daily yoga in the mornings are:

a). To restart your mind, make it alert and sharpen your brain to take over the day

b). To improve the blood circulation in the body

c). To release the stiff muscles from lying down for 7-8 hours straight

d). To relieve stress and anxiety

e). To increase the flexibility of your joints

f). To kick start your day

For a good morning yoga routine, you must practice these few techniques:

1. Yastikasana:

This can be practiced in bed only. For this,
-Take your hands above your head and stretch upwards.
-Simultaneously, point your toes downwards and feel the opposite stretch in the body. This is a great way to loosen all the muscles from a good night’s sleep.

2. Supta Vakrasana:

To twist the spine, and open it up, practice this for 10-15 seconds on each side. For this,
-Lie down on your back
-Interlock your fingers and keep it underneath your head
-Keeping the legs together, bend the knees and bring the feet close to the body
-Exhaling, drop your knees to the left side and turn your head towards the right side
-Hold the position for a few seconds while breathing normally and gently release the pose

3. Pawanmukhtasana:

This is an easy asana to relieve all the gases from your stomach and helps you to have a bowel movement. For this,
– While lying down on your back, keep your hands by the side of the body and legs together
– Bend the knees and bring the knees close to the chest
– With your hands, hug the knees
– Breathe normally and hold the pose for 8-10 seconds and gently release.

4. Kapabhati:

Practice this to throw out all the impurities from the body and start your day with fresh and cleaner nostrils. For this,
– Sit in a comfortable meditative posture
– Breathe in and out rapidly, so that there is a slight diaphragmatic movement

Once you have left the bed, instead of sipping on tea or coffee, drink a glass of lukewarm water. Then simply walk around the house, even if it’s for 10-15 minutes. This practice sequence will push you to evacuate your bowels. Always remember to start your day with a positive mind and good visualization, and your day will turn out to be much better than any other day.

Practice daily yoga and see how it transforms not only your body but also your mind and day!
