Lenses or Glasses

Prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses depend upon personal preferences. Comfortability, budget, usage, and aesthetics all contribute to the choice of decision-making.

If you’re planning to switch to contact lenses, you might not be the only one; surely not one is necessarily better than the other, but each has its pros and cons.

Contact lenses are beneficial for correcting the range of refractive errors, like nearsightedness, farsightedness, or presbyopia (gradual loss of your eye’s ability to focus on nearby objects. It’s a natural, often annoying part of aging). Often eye diseases such as keratoconus can be treated with the help of contact lenses.

Eyeglasses also have several benefits over contacts. Very little cleaning is required, and the eyes don’t need to be touched while wearing them, which decreases the chance of any infection. They are cheaper than contacts since they are not required to be replaced that often until lost or broken. Eyeglasses can also adjust the amount of light entering the eye for required comfort and vision.

The need of wearing glasses or contacts:

Other than fashion statements, there could be several reasons to instill the need to wear contacts or power glasses. There are several reasons which might lead to a need to switch the vision.

a). A burning sensation in the eyes

b). One of the dry eye symptoms is blurred vision

c). Dry, tired eyes and fatigue

d). Difficulty with nighttime driving

e). Watery eyes, which can be the reason for eye irritation

f). Myopia where nearsightedness is easier than farsightedness

g). Hyperopia was focusing on a particular object becomes difficult

h). Accommodative Esotropia that results in a crossed eyes

i). Anisometropia where the two eyes have a different vision which results in poor vision in one.

Glasses or contact lenses can be an effective corrective or preventive measure for any of the above ailments. Although treating dry eyes naturally, especially in the beginning stage, there are other alternatives. Heated dry eye masks can be helpful to release natural oils from the glands that generate natural lubrication from the eyes.

Hey, Excuse me! We were confused between choosing the spectacles or the contact lenses for our eyes, so here we are, distinguishing between the basics and how to choose one over the other.

Reason to consider switching to glasses:

For dry eyes, glasses can be a great alternative since they wouldn’t cause much irritation like the lenses, but we already have a solution for dry eyes so that this option can be customized. Frames are fashionable with several frameworks and can protect eyes from dust, debris, or other particles.

Reasons you might want to reconsider:

Eyeglasses sit about 12 mm from the eyes, which can cause the peripheral vision to distort. They take time to adjust, which is one of their drawbacks. The aesthetic look might also be distorted to some extent which might be unappealing to people.

Reasons to consider switching to lenses:

Contact lenses give the users an experience of focused vision. They move with the pupil, hence giving a sharp, direct, and peripheral vision. Issues such as steaming or water spots are not a call for the contacts, and they do not distort the light. It becomes easy to enjoy flexibility while doing your favorite activities since they won’t bounce up and down or have chances to slip off.

Reasons you might want to reconsider:

With the enhanced authenticity of the face, it might be troublesome to fit the lenses, not to forget the increased chances of dry eye syndrome it might cause. Maintaining them to avoid any eye infection potentially is huge, which might want you to switch to disposable ones.

It’s the preference of choice and how well you wish to carry any of the above two. So basically you can choose any, or switch as per your need!

The choice is yours, Happy sightseeing!
